Description

“SyntaxHighlighter TinyMCE Button” provides additional buttons for “Visual Editor(TinyMCE)” and these buttons will help to type or edit <pre> tag for Alex Gorbatchev’s SyntaxHighlighter.

This plugin is based on “CodeColorer TinyMCE Button” and becomes more feature-rich.

Features

  • Once your code is wrapped in <pre> tag, You can type ‘tabs’ for indent.

Compliant plugins

You can use this plugin with following code syntax highlighter.

When using with “SyntaxHighlighter Evolved”, “Load All Brushes” option must be enabled on the “SyntaxHighlighter” setting panel.

This plugin has operating modes optimized for “WP SyntaxHighlighter”, “Syntax Highlighter Compress” or “SyntaxHighlighter Evolved”.

Notes

This plugin can work only with the default visual editor(TinyMCE). Other visual editors are not supported.

This plugin is designed to work with a plugin based on Alex Gorbatchev’s SyntaxHighlighter Ver, 2.0 or higher.

You can not use this plugin with some ‘SyntaxHighlighter’-based plugins which do not support <pre> tag.

Installation

Installation

  1. Upload plugin folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  2. Activate the plugin through the “Plugins” menu in WordPress.
  3. If you need, go to “Settings” -> “SH TinyMCE Button” to configure.

If you use “WP SyntaxHighlighter“, “Syntax Highlighter Compress” or “SyntaxHighlighter Evolved“, you should configure “Using with” option on the setting panel.

Usage

Usage: To paste your code into the post or page.

If you want to paste the code from the other document into your post or page, this way is best. Your pasted code will be warpped in <pre> tag automatically.

  1. Click “CODE” button.
  2. Select language and options and paste your code into textbox.
  3. Click “Insert” button.

Usage: To wrap previously-written code in <pre> tag.

If you have previously-written code on your post or page, by this way, you can wrap your code in <pre> tag for ‘SyntaxHighlighter’.

  1. With the mouse, select and highlight your code where you want to aplly “SyntaxHighlighter”.
  2. Click “pre” button.
  3. Select language and options.
  4. Click “Insert” button.

Usage: To change language and options of previously-markuped code.

  1. With the mouse, select and highlight your code.
  2. Click “pre” button.
  3. Change language and options.
  4. Click “Update” button.

Usage: To indent by tabs.

  1. Just type tab in your code. But till your code is wrapped in <pre> tag, you can not type any tabs.

FAQ

Q. I want to change language and options of previously-markuped code with “pre” button. But I can’t select whole my code.

A. You need not to select whole your code. It’s enough to select first line of your code.

Q. After the update to new version, Buttons do not work correctly.

A. Old javascript files may be cached. Please clear your browser’s cache or delete cached javascript files.

Q. I get errors trying to check “html-scripts box”.

A. “html-scripts” option requires “XML” brush. However, some ‘SyntaxHighlighter’-based plugins do not load “XML” brush by default. If you want this optiin, you should consider the use of “WP SyntaxHighlighter“.
