Product Advisor for Ecwid

Description

Product Advisor for Ecwid is a plugin for WordPress that allows to show Random
Products, Bestsellers, On Sale & Latest Products from Ecwid store. It allows to
show products as widget or it can be used as shortcode, so products will be
inserted into entry’s body.

Product Advisor for Ecwid must be used side by side with Ecwid Shopping Cart
plugin (https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ecwid-shopping-cart/) and cannot
work without it. Also, Product Advisor for Ecwid uses some settings of Ecwid
Shopping Cart plugin such as Ecwid Store ID, so basically Product Advisor for
Ecwid extends the functionality of the core Ecwid Shopping cart plugin.

Configuration

After installation, Product Advisor for Ecwid is generally ready to work without
any configuration.

However, if you do not have paid Ecwid account, you may experience problems with
currency display. In this case, you may want to define currency settings
manually. For that you should:

  1. Go to the “Settings > Product Advisor for Ecwid” section in your WordPress
    back-end and tick the “Use manually-defined currency settings” checkbox.
  2. After that define currency prefix or/and suffix.
  3. Save changes.

For example:
– if you define prefix as ‘£’ your prices will look like
£7.56
– if you difine suffix as ‘€’ your prices will look like
7.56€

Installation

  1. Log into your WordPress back-end
  2. Go to Plugins > Add New section
  3. Search for “Product Advisor for Ecwid” keywords
  4. Install the suggested module

FAQ

Product Advisor for Ecwid’s widgets

Available widgets:
– Ecwid Random Products
– Ecwid Bestsellers
– Ecwid On Sale Products
– Ecwid Latest Products

In order to use Product Advisor for Ecwid’s widgets, you need to:

  1. Go to “Appearance > Widgets” area in your WordPress.

  2. Select any Product Advisor for Ecwid’s widget and drag it to desired Sidebar
    or Area.

  3. After your drop the selected Product Advisor for Ecwid’s widget you will be
    able to define its settings.

3.1. “Title” field defines the title of widget.

3.2. “Number of products to display” field defines how many products will be
displayed in this widget.

3.3. “Display product title?”, “Display product price?” and “Display product
SKU?” check-boxes define whether or not to display product name, price and SKU
correspondingly.

3.4. “Category ID to select products from” defines any category ID from which
products will be displayed.

Shortcode

Shortcode in WordPress is a sort of macros that allows to use different features
within the body of WordPress entries such as Pages, Posts etc.

There are followig shortcodes available for Product Advisor for Ecwid plugin:

– [ecwid_on_sale_products]
– [ecwid_latest_products]

1) [ecwid_random_products]

Description:
Display random products from Ecwid store.

Parameters:
number – how many items will be shown, ex. count=3
show_price – whether or not to show the price, ex. show_price=true
show_sku – whether or not to show the price, ex. show_sku=true
show_title – whether or not to show the product name, ex. show_title=true
product_width – defines width of one product in px, ex. product_width=100
per_row – how many products need to be shown in a row, ex. per_row=3.
Rule per_row=1 defines to show products in column.
category – defines ID of category to select products from, ex. category=100.
Works for paid accounts only.

Example:
[ecwid_random_products number=6 per_row=3 show_price=true category=2000]
This shortcode will display 6 random products from category with ID 2000 in 2
rows (3 products in a row). It will show price for these products.

2) [ecwid_bestsellers]

Description:
Display Ecwid store’s bestsellers. It works for paid Ecwid accounts only. It
requires you to specify the Order API Secret Key in settings of Ecwid Product
Advisor plugin.

Parameters:
number – how many items will be shown, ex. count=3
show_price – whether or not to show the price, ex. show_price=true
show_sku – whether or not to show the price, ex. show_sku=true
show_title – whether or not to show the product name, ex. show_title=true
product_width – defines width of one product in px, ex. product_width=100
per_row – how many products need to be shown in a row, ex. per_row=3.
Rule per_row=1 defines to show products in column.
from_date – by default plugin uses all orders to build a bestsellers list (if
this option is not specified). If for that purpose you want to use orders placed
after certain date, then specify this parameter. Ex. from_date=2012-03-20 – to
use orders after 20th March of 2012.

3) [ecwid_latest_products]

Description:
Display Ecwid store’s latest products – products that were added to your catalog
recently. It works for paid Ecwid accounts only.

Parameters:
number – how many items will be shown, ex. count=3
show_price – whether or not to show the price, ex. show_price=true
show_sku – whether or not to show the price, ex. show_sku=true
show_title – whether or not to show the product name, ex. show_title=true
product_width – defines width of one product in px, ex. product_width=100
per_row – how many products need to be shown in a row, ex. per_row=3.
Rule per_row=1 defines to show products in column.

4) [ecwid_on_sale_products]

Description:
Display Ecwid store’s on sale (discounted) products. It works for paid Ecwid
accounts only.

Parameters:
discount_type – required – possible values flat or percent – defines what type
of discount will be used to filter your on sale products.
Ex. discount_type=percent
discount_value – required – defines the value of discount. If a product has
discount greater than specified value, then this product will be in a list.
Ex. discount_value=10
number – how many items will be shown, ex. count=3
show_price – whether or not to show the price, ex. show_price=true
show_sku – whether or not to show the price, ex. show_sku=true
show_title – whether or not to show the product name, ex. show_title=true
product_width – defines width of one product in px, ex. product_width=100
per_row – how many products need to be shown in a row, ex. per_row=3.
Rule per_row=1 defines to show products in column.

Examples:
[ecwid_on_sale_products number=5 discount_type=flat discount_value=10]
This shortcode will display 5 products with discount more than $10 (considering
your currency is $)

[ecwid_on_sale_products number=6 discount_type=percent discount_value=50]
This shortcode will display 6 products with discount more than 50%.

Good tool and pretty straightforward to use. Must-have 🙂 Existing issues: – formatting inconsistencies: image: middle-aligned title: left-aligned price: middle aligned – shows only the net price without tax – regardless the settings in Ecwid: System Settings Taxes “Show included taxes on product details page” – if per_row less then the available products in the actual category, it behaves weird If they eliminate those this will be mandatory for all Ecwid-WP site!
