Description
This plugin allows the custom header image to be replaced by the featured image of the current post or page, if present. Otherwise the ‘default’ custom header image is used.
Installation
- Upload the plugin files to the
/wp-content/plugins/plugin-name
directory, or install the plugin through the WordPress plugins screen directly. - Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ screen in WordPress

For the Twenty Seventeen theme you can change the header.php file to disable the regular featured image.
For example:
